Owner Exit Planning: Leave on Your Own Terms

Many business owners are not prepared for the process of selling their business and life after it is sold.  This starts when they receive a valuation for their business that is roughly 50% of what they want or need.

Larry shares his 20 years of mergers and acquisition experience on both the buy side and sell side of transactions to help attendees understand the process and maximize financial gain at the time of selling their company.  Some of the topics covered include:

  • What will the business owner do after the sale?
  • What is the value of your company?
  • How can you increase the value of your company to prepare for a sale?
  • Maximize business value by enhancing value drivers and addressing value detractors
  • Discussion on the transaction process

Roundhouse Advisors (www.RoundhouseAdvisors.com) provides business management consulting helping our clients increase enterprise value by evaluating their company and market from all sides, but we have particular expertise in helping owners of privately held companies position their organizations for their exit.  This may include repositioning through marketing communication, developing and monitoring growth plans, reconfiguring financial results into a format that buyers require, and analyzing and proposing operational improvements that can increase company value.

Lance Butler:      303-332-8779

Agenda: Please try to be on time. Honestly you do miss something when you arrive late.

The beginning of the meeting will be devoted to members delivering their 90-second announcements so we can learn more about each other. Our practice has been that senior members are expected to provide a job search tip at the end of their introduction. This opportunity to share your expertise has even proved to be a valuable source of ideas.

We have topics selected in advance. However, if you have one of particular interest to you, please let me know.

With regard to future meetings, please mark your calendars for the fourth Wednesday of the month and try to keep the date available. Interviews, work, and family emergencies are good exceptions.

In order to get the maximum benefit from our meeting:

1. Bring a name badge and/or “tent” to the meeting.*
2. Bring copies of your résumé and/or business cards.
3. Polish your 90 second announcement.

*(A tent is a 8” x 12” piece of cardboard folded in half with your name on BOTH sides.)

You should plan that the formal session will end no later than 7:30 PM so that the remaining 1/2 hour can be spent on a “scramble”. Everyone should stay alert during the 90 second announcements so that when we break for individual networking you are able to connect in depth with as many people as possible. I want to strongly emphasize the importance to your job search of making a personal connection to other members.

If you bring a BIG name badge & big tent, this will also help. There is nothing more embarrassing than to get engrossed in a conversation with someone and have to ask them to repeat their name! Make it easy for others to remember you.

Remember

  • Bring a name badge and/or 'tent' to the meeting.
  • Bring copies of your résumé and/or business cards.
  • Polish your 90 second announcement.

Directions

This is just south of I225 and DTC Boulevard) Door and parking lot opens on the west side of the building to Ulster. Look for the flags in the parking lot. This is the same location as the last several meetings).

The easiest way to find Morton & Co's office is to exit I-25 at Belleview and head east towards Ulster Street, then turn left or north on Ulster. The
building is on the North East corner of Ulster & Tuffs (4600 S. Ulster Street). It is in the next block north of McCormick's and Schmick's
Restaurant on the same side of Ulster (east side). The building is connected to a similar, taller office building on south side by a large
flagstone patio and wall. There are flags in front of the parking lot on the west side of the building. If you haven't been here before, I suggest that you use Google Maps or MapQuest to get the detailed location as it is hard to find the first time.
